Bladder, lateral wallTURBT

Final Diagnosis

High-grade papillary urothelial carcinoma, invasive into lamina propria (pT1). Muscularis propria is present and uninvolved.

Microscopic Description

Sections show a papillary neoplasm composed of urothelial cells with marked nuclear pleomorphism, increased mitotic activity, and loss of polarity. The tumor invades into the lamina propria. Muscularis propria is identified in the specimen and is free of tumor. No lymphovascular invasion is identified.

Gross Description

Received in formalin labeled 'Bladder tumor, lateral wall TURBT' are multiple tan-pink tissue fragments measuring 2.5 x 2.0 x 0.8 cm in aggregate. The specimen is submitted in its entirety in two cassettes.

Clinical History

Hematuria. Cystoscopy showed 2 cm papillary tumor on lateral wall.
