Final Diagnosis

Low-grade papillary urothelial carcinoma, non-invasive (pTa). Muscularis propria is not identified in specimen.

Microscopic Description

Sections show a papillary neoplasm lined by urothelial cells with mild nuclear atypia, maintained polarity, and rare mitotic figures. The papillary architecture is well-developed with thin fibrovascular cores. No invasion into the lamina propria is identified. Muscularis propria is not present in the specimen.

Gross Description

Received in formalin labeled 'Bladder tumor, posterior wall TURBT' are multiple pink-tan tissue fragments measuring 1.2 x 0.8 x 0.3 cm in aggregate. The specimen is submitted in its entirety in one cassette.

Clinical History

Recurrent hematuria. Cystoscopy revealed 1.5 cm papillary lesion on posterior wall.
