Final Diagnosis

Urothelial carcinoma in situ (CIS), low-grade. No invasive carcinoma identified.

Microscopic Description

Sections show flat urothelium with mild to moderate nuclear atypia, including slightly enlarged nuclei with mild hyperchromasia and maintained polarity. No papillary architecture is identified. The basement membrane is intact with no invasion into the lamina propria. Muscularis propria is not present in the specimen.

Gross Description

Received in formalin labeled 'Bladder biopsy, trigone TURBT' are multiple small tan-pink tissue fragments measuring 1.5 x 1.0 x 0.4 cm in aggregate. The specimen is submitted in its entirety in one cassette.

Painless gross hematuria.
